Happy Saturday!

We hope everyone has plans to enjoy this sunny Saturday! Jason is headed down to Mena to attend a family wedding, and I am just hanging out here with Shiloh at the hospital. We are trying to enjoy these few days of relative peace and quiet before we get discharged into a house with the 3 big kids and a newborn... Heaven help us! ; )

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone so much for your support during these past few weeks. The cards, flowers, snacks, magazines, movies, hugs and words of encouragement have meant the world to us. We feel very blessed and very loved, and we appreciate all of you so much!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Shiloh says hi! : )

He's not a fan of being burped.

Blue Lights

Here's a picture of our baby Shiloh getting some light-therapy treatment. He is doing just great! He has to receive antibiotics through the first part of next week. As long as his feedings are going well then he should get to come home next week!

Thank you Flora!

Thanks to our friends at Flora for the lovely floral bouquet!

Thanks Dunhams!

Thank you to Lisa Dunham and her family for sending us a package of Bliss cupcakes!

Holding Shiloh

We got to hold Shiloh for the first time this evening (and the other kids got to watch through the NICU window!)

Shiloh is here!

We are very excited to announce the birth of our new baby, Shiloh Bruff Hudson! He was born on July 27, 2010 at 12:04 a.m. after a very LONG eight days in the hospital with painful contractions, then ending up with a very LONG day concluded with a C-Section to get Shiloh out. He weighed 4 pounds and 13 ounces and is 18 1/2 inches long. He was born with a fever and a little bit of an illness but nothing major. He will be in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for at least a week in order to get antibiotics and to be monitored. We can't wait to be able to take him home! Welcome to the world Shiloh!

It looks like Kori is starting to show some signs of infection, so they have decided to go ahead and induce labor today instead of waiting until tomorrow. Which means we get to meet our son in just a few hours!

Hopefully the VBAC will go smoothly, but if he's not tolerating labor well they will do a c-section. Either way, it's baby time.

Wish us luck! Pictures to follow soon!

Almost baby time! (Seriously!)

Monday.... Day 6 in the hospital. Lots of contractions but still no baby. We're on track to be induced on Tuesday, and we can't wait to see our son! Thanks for all the well-wishes, visits, and goodies. Hopefully we'll have some baby pictures to post soon!

We've actually been incredibly productive while here at the hospital. ALL weddings to date are now uploaded to our proofing site! If you need a password to see a wedding you attended, please contact the bride for her password.

Have a great day and check back!

More Maternity Photos of My Lovely Wife!

I got to do my favorite thing a couple of weeks ago, taking pictures of my beautiful wife! Here are a few favorites:

We may be done with maternity photos, but it won't belong before the birth photos and newborn photos of our new baby will be hitting the blog. Baby Shiloh looks so cute in all the ultrasound photos, and if the ultrasound they did today is any indication, he's pretty big for his age. It looks like around 6 pounds or so. I can't wait to meet him!

We are still looking on track for Kori to be induced on Tuesday morning, the day that Shiloh will be 34 weeks. We will keep you posted!

3 More Days!

Just three more days until we get to meet our little guy... We can't wait!

The Waiting Game...

Day 3 in the hospital... Kori's Dr. said the latest she'll be pregnant is next Tuesday, or earlier if her body does kick into labor before then. She's just 33 weeks pregnant, so Shiloh will be a preemie, but should be just fine. Kori's mom brought Norah and Barrett by for a visit yesterday. Norah took a nap, then just walked around looking cute. Barrett found a rolling chair to roll back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth....

Thanks for the well wishes. We'll be updating the blog so keep checking in on us!

Almost baby time!

Kori and I are at the hospital awaiting the arrival of our baby boy Shiloh. We've neen there since 1am this morning. It's going to be a long day but we can't wait to meet our little man... could be today, tomorrow... later this week; not real sure yet. We'll of course post updates and pictures as we can! We'll let you know once we're back in the office.

An Homage

We are pretty big on originality around here, and we don't usually make an effort to imitate the work of other artists, but with me being 8 months pregnant with what will in all likelihood be our last child, we decided to make an exception and stage a photo session as an homage to the infamous Demi Moore maternity photo that was shot by Annie Leibovitz for the cover of the August, 1991, issue of Vanity Fair.

The image, which featured a 28-year-old Moore in the nude while 7 months pregnant with her second daughter, Scout, was a sort of turning point in the field of maternity photography. Prior to this, it was rare for the pregnant female form to be on such bold display. The cover image featured Demi in the nude, and the images featured inside the magazine caused further controversy by depicting Demi's pregnant form in a lacy black bra and panties. This was a big departure from the mostly chaste and covered-up maternity photography that was taking place at the time. To have a pregnant woman displayed in such an openly "sexy" way caused a huge controversy at the time, but ended up affecting a wave of change within the field.

Images of pregnant women have since evolved to include a wide range of depictions, from the more traditional poses common in the earlier days of the field to the less covered-up and more evocative images reminiscent of the Demi Moore/Annie Leibovitz photo session that sparked the change. Now it is very common in the field of maternity photography for women to proudly display their forms in celebration of what is one of the most special and beautiful times in a woman's life.

As an homage to the pivotal shoot, Jason brought a backdrop from the studio here to our house, and we set up a couple of shots in the same spirit. Here is the image that was used for the Vanity Fair cover in 1991, shot by Annie Leibovitz:

...And here is the shot that Jason captured of me. I am the same age that Demi was at the time of the shoot and one month further along in my pregnancy.

Below is an image from the inside spread of the Vanity Fair article.

...And finally, a similar image of me taken by Jason:

Kudos to Annie Leibovitz for her excellent work on the images, and for her ever-growing body of amazing work that continues to be an inspiration to me as an artist. And long live materntiy photography that helps pregnant women to feel beautiful in their bodies. There is nothing lovelier than a big pregnant belly, if I do say so myself! ; )

Waiting for Shiloh...

We took some beautiful maternity photographs of Kori a few days ago. Here is one of my favorites.

More to follow!
